Shooting at Houston-area vigil kills at least one, wounds 13

Baytown, Texas — One person was killed and at least 13 others were wounded Sunday evening in a drive-by shooting during a candlelight vigil near Houston, authorities said.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said it happened around 6: 40 p.m. when about 50 people were gathered for a celebration of life in Baytown, about 25 miles west of Houston. According to KHOU-TV ., it wasn’t immediately clear who this event was honouring.

Three of the wounded were airlifted to hospitals in critical condition, Gonzalez said.

One of the injured was believed to have been a child. He said that the bounce house near the accident scene was packed with children at the time the shots were fired. KHOU also stated that Gonzalez said three of the wounded had been airlifted to hospitals in critical condition.

Gonzalez stated that officers were called later to Baytown’s medical center where they took some of the injured because there had been a disturbance.

The authorities didn’t provide any details about the suspect in shooting, nor did they announce an arrest.
